New this summer: Camp Siena! Girls, sign up now!!

Camp Siena: July 25-29 St. Anthony, Camdenton ; Age: Young women currently in grades 8-11. Cost: $150.

If you believe women have no power in the church (and by power, we mean to be of service to others on behalf of Christ) then, please learn about St. Catherine of Siena and come to Camp Siena. Here is a woman who died at the age of 33. But before she died, she convinced a pope to return to Rome, influenced mighty kings in France and all across Europe, and was writing on behalf of Pope Urban to end the schism that was forming. Not bad for anyone in the Church! Myth busting to the argument "women have no power in the Church."

Camp Siena is new this year! Leadership includes Pud Webb, youth minister at St. Anthony in Camdenton. Come be part of the pioneer group who launches Camp Siena in the Diocese of Jefferson City! What is Camp Siena? It is a camp to help real young women learn real Catholic feminine spirituality. Feminine spirituality is not about being in conflict with men or oneself; it is about living the life God has created you to live as woman. If you think that means being docile and with head bowed all the time, please re-read the first paragraph of this blogpost!

Each day, there will be an opportunity for Mass with Camp Siena's Spiritual Director, Father Mike Coleman. Then, there will be some sort of outing. Some outdoor things such as a fun day on the lake or being out at a ranch farm house for dinner. Then, there will be talks about important women in the church and the role they have played and time to reflect on the Lord's role for you and the relationship he wants to have with you.

Do not be afraid of what the Lord is asking. He is simply asking for a relationship with you. Come. Explore your relationship with him. Ask your pastor or youth minister for the forms. or contact the vocation office or youth ministry office at the diocese. Or go to the youth ministry page of the diocesan website to download the forms. See you at Camp Siena!
